Strawberry & Banana Dog Treats!
Ingredients
1 egg
114g peanut butter (ensure this does not contain xylitol)
340g whole wheat flour
170g cup oats
1 banana, mashed
5 fresh ripe strawberries, finely diced
-
Preheat oven to 150°c / 302°f.
-
Combine all ingredients in a large bowl and knead until a dough ball forms. If it’s too sticky, add a little more flour.
-
Roll it out on a lightly floured surface and cut into shapes with cookie cutters or mould. We love these ones.
-
Place the cutouts or the mould onto a baking tray and bake for about 20-25 minutes.
-
Remove them from the oven and let them cool completed before handling.
*All-natural peanut butter without added salt or sugar is best.
Beware of some sugar-free peanut butters as they may have artificial sweeteners (such as xylitol) which is toxic to dogs. Always check the ingredients.
Storage
These can be stored in an airtight container for 3-4 days, and can also be frozen until ready to use, at which point you may remove them and let them thaw at room temperature.

180ml skimmed milk
1 large egg or 255g unsweetened applesauce
260g whole wheat flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
45g oats
4 rashers of cooked bacon, chopped into little pieces

You may need to turn the dough out onto the counter and use your hands to work in the flour. Mix in the oats and chopped bacon. The dough should be extremely thick and heavy.
- Using a rolling pin, roll the dough out to a 6mm thickness. Cut into shapes or insert into dog treat moulds and arrange on the baking tray.
- Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until very lightly browned on the bottom. Remove from the oven and flip the treats to bake the other side for 10-12 more minutes.

Makes 12 mini quiches.
If possible, use silicone mini muffin cups to bake the quiches. These are the perfect tiny size and because the silicone is a great nonstick surface that doesn’t require coating a baking pan with oil or cooking spray. If you are using a traditional muffin tin, be sure to coat it well to prevent sticking.
Storage
Store in an air-tight container in the refrigerator for 3-5 days.
