This months Bravery Award goes to Lily!

Lily recently visited us to be spayed; this is a procedure also known as an ovariohysterectomy which is the surgical removal of the female reproductive organs. The operation removes the two ovaries, the uterine horns and the body of the uterus.

However when operating the Vet Surgeon discovered Lily had a pyometra; this is an infection of the uterus, where the uterus fills with pus. It is a very serious and life threatening condition that must be treated promptly and aggressively.

Lily’s uterus had swollen and filled with pus to an alarming size which could have almost proven to be fatal, however, by neutering/spaying Lily, this can prevent this from occurring in the future. This proves why it is very important to spay and neuter your dog as it can occur at any age.

Thankfully Lily is now on the mend and recovering well, she has been ever so brave!
