2019 Scottish Vet Awards

The Scottish Vet Awards

2019 was the first year the Scottish Vet Awards have ran and the team at Wallace Vets, along with other veterinary practices up and down the country really got behind this to shine a light on the amazing work that our teams do.

Clients were asked to vote for their favourite veterinary practice using facebook or by emailing their vote to the organisers. The other categories were voted by colleges of those in the industry.

We were lucky enough to be shortlisted for 5 different categories:

  • Practice of the Year
  • Vet of the Year – Small Animal
  • Vet Nurse of the Year
  • Rising Star
  • Practice Manager of the Year

All dressed up and nowhere to go…

On Monday 15th April, just 6 days ahead of the award ceremony, we received an email from Scottish Vet Awards to break the sad news that the award ceremony had been cancelled due to “circumstances beyond our control”.

This was followed by public announcements on their website and on social media.

The news was a blow to every practice and individual nominated.

We, as a practice, had bought 30 tickets to the event to take our staff there to celebrate the amazing work they do. Win or lose, it was going to be a wonderful and well deserved night out.

We had organised a coach to take us there and back, and being a Black Tie event, our staff had bought outfits to compliment the glitz and glamour of the awards ceremony.

We could not let this go to waste, our team deserved to be celebrated!

Our own celebration!

Our amazing team are our most valuable asset. The work they do day-in, day-out is nothing short of life saving and inspiring. The awards night was to celebrate them and the work they do. We could not let that go uncelebrated…

The amazing team at Malmaison Dundee were able to accommodate us and put on a wonderful drinks reception and three course meal at such short notice. The food was outstanding and the cocktails weren’t bad either… :p

Sidlaw Travel were also so helpful and rearranged our Glasgow transportation to instead collect our team from Arbroath, Carnoustie and Broughty Ferry to bring them to Dundee, then take them safely home afterwards.

And the awards go to…

Today, 23rd April, the Scottish Vet Awards began to announce the winners via their Facebook page.

We were so proud to find out the we won two of our five nominations.

Practice of the Year and Rising Star (Lisa Duff)

We’d like to say a HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to all the winners. These awards were about you and the amazing work that you do.
